签名一个纽结可以使用斯凯因关系定义

(1)

$s(K_+)-s(K_-) in {0,2},$

和

其中是康威多项式并且是一个奇数。

许多解结数可以使用纽结的签名来确定。

纽结签名在 Wolfram 语言中实现为KnotData[knot,"Signature"]. 下表总结了交叉数少于或等于 10 的纽结的签名。
